Contains issues of the student newspaper of Pennsylvania College for Women, later Chatham College (1955-2007) and Chatham University (2007-present) and earlier Pennsylvania Female College (1869-1890). This volume also contains issues of The Englicode, a student literary magazine. Rachel Carson, PCW alumna and noted environmental writer, published several articles, essays, and poems in these publications between 1925 and 1929. The student newspaper was later known as The Matrix (1970-1982), The Rolling Pebble (1983-1984), First Edition (1984-1989), and The Communiqué (1990-present).
